You just call the number and Santa comes on, gives kids a message about being good and listening to their parents and that he will see them soon. He also lets them leave a message on what they would like for Christmas, which is then delivered to the North Pole.
I just tried it with my 3 year old and of course, her response was "Mom, that's silly. There are too many words" LOL
However, she started to name off everything that she wants for Christmas.... priceless!
