The End Product
|
I have been searching for over a month for the PERFECT owl to put somewhere in my living room. I have come across bright ones, dull ones, scary ones, too pretty ones... nothing that was really screaming my personal taste or that I was willing to pay over $25 for!!!
So, there I was in our local
Michael's Craft Store today and came across a ceramic owl that was a completely blank canvas and I thought to myself... "Here is my chance to make my own! Okay, now where do I start?"

Isn't he cute?? or is it a she??

So, there it was in all its glory... now what color? I decided on the
Martha Stewart brand of paint which was very inexpensive at only $1.99 per bottle but seemed to have the most selection according to the colors that I wanted. Also, they had a small gnome project that had been completed on the shelf with the same brand and I liked the way that the color looked. I also only need 1/2 of a bottle to complete this entire project, so not bad!

| Paint Color: Couscous |
I then painted all of the owl, let it dry and then put on another coat. Although I did like the yellow tint to the owl, I decided that it need a bit more
"personality". I then took my paint brush and make light strokes all around the owl figurine with a paint called
Arrowhead, also made my Martha Stewart crafts.
As you can see, it gives it a bit more of that "Rustic" feel that is ever so popular in design today and I think it fits right into our living room just fine.. what do you think??
Total cost to make this owl:
$3.99 for the ceramic owl figurine
$1.99 for each paint
(which I can use again on other projects)
AND my love and labor
Love it but don't want to make your own??? Contact me and I can definitely put one together for you!
It is really nice, goes perfect with your decor there. Great job!!!!!!
